If you’ve read my About Me (please do if you haven’t) you’ll know that I’m HOT. Hooked On Travel that is. When I’m on a trip, I make it a point to post daily about my adventures and misadventures on Facebook. Since I write for Didache and Gabay, daily Bible reflection guides for Catholics, my travel logs followed that theme – finding God’s grace in every place I visited. He delighted me with beautiful surprises. It could be a majestic scenery, unexpectedly ticking off a destination in my bucket list or the kindness of friends and strangers. He has saved me and my travel companions from hairy situations that would’ve totally ruined the trip, like the prospect of having to sleep in the train station overnight in sub-zero temperature. These were favors only He can conjure. When I had time, those posts made it to my old blogs which were not really travel themed but a mish mash of all my thoughts and experiences.

In life and even on trips, God sometimes leads us in a different direction. Or maybe, we get lost and He brings us right where we’re supposed to be. In this community quarantine caused by COVID-19, God did just that. He redirected my steps towards refocusing my blogs. It was perfectly timed because I had “lost” two of my old blogs. That gave me the chance to separate the content into clearer topics. Now, I have one for solo parents (The Happy Solo Faith) and this travel blog. I also have a fitness blog called Happy Fit & Fab but that has a clear focus and not part of the ragbag.

First a disclaimer: I am not a seasoned jet setter. I cannot give you travel tips like a pro. Neither am I an adventure trekker. There will be no backpacking tips on this site. What I do have are happy itchy feet that look for comfortable ways to travel. These past 4 years, I was blessed with annual trips with my family and pilgrimages. When I was still single and when my 2 boys were small, we did go on regular trips too, until tuition fees and keeping body and soul together on my solo mom income got in the way. Now that my boys have grown up, I have the luxury to see more of the world.

So, what I can share with my readers would be what it’s like to wander the world with God in my pocket (literally) or (figuratively) in my travel B.A.G. – Blessings, Adventures and Guides. I will show you the wonders of His creations that I’ve seen so far and some useful tips I’ve picked up along the way from my own experiences and from my travel friends. I have taken tours with children and old people so insights on those might prove helpful too. Travel OOTD is also a big thing for me so I’ll share what I got right that’s Instagram-worthy and what I swear will never be seen on social media. Occasionally, I will also post travel-related reflections I wrote for Didache and my old blogs.

Professionally, I did have some experience working with travel agencies so I’m not a complete tyro. And, by God’s grace, I’ll be dipping my feet into that industry again soon. I can write about more sights and scenes then. But until the world opens again, take a trip down memory lane with me as I write about my previous travels.

I’m looking forward to wishing you “Safe Skies!” on your own journey.
